2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris WORKER Cargo Van Release Date

In the last year, Mercedes-Benz stepped up its commercial van game with the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter WORKER and the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris. The Sprinter WORKER is cargo van with no upgrade options and the Metris offers customers an opportunity for compact mobility. Together, they are the most affordable Mercedes-Benz commercial vans to ever haul a load. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris WORKER Cargo Van will be released by the end of 2016.

At first, we thought the WORKER was just going to be a specific Sprinter model. Now, we see that Mercedes-Benz will likely integrate WORKER trims into every commercial vehicle application. It is popular because it takes the frustration of picking every little feature and specification, especially when the van is just needed for miscellaneous reasons.

Metris WORKER Packages

The difference between the Sprinter WORKER and the Metris WORKER is the addition of a few package options. We would prefer they were left out because we like the idea of a work van that doesn’t need bells or whistles. Still, it is a Mercedes-Benz and that has to mean something, so the Metris WORKER Cargo Van is going to be available with the CONVENIENCE Package and a UTILITY Package.

CONVENIENCE Package

For an extra $2,000, the Metris WORKER Cargo gets a rear-view camera, heated mirrors, LED lighting in the cargo area, cruise control, automatic windshield wipers, an upgraded stereo head unit and a first aid kit. Oh now we get it. Yeah, those things are convenient. In fact, there is probably about $2,000 worth of convenience there.

UTILITY Package

The UTILITY Package costs $4,000 in addition to the MSRP, but it comes with everything in the CONVENIENCE Package and more. We’re talking Blind Spot Assist, roof rails, cargo straps, and a rear window with heated washers and wipers. These packages were included in the lineup because the majority of Metris buyers choose these options.
